SANDY SHORES, SA — Fire crews and deputies are battling an active brush fire tonight after a powerful explosion shook the east side of Sandy Shores — and sources close to the investigation say the blast may be connected to Tater Biscuit’s recently discovered moonshine equipment.
The explosion occurred behind the same stretch of abandoned trailers where deputies dismantled an “unknown distillation rig” just days ago. But tonight’s incident appears significantly larger.
Residents reported hearing a “deep boom,” followed by flames rising above the rooftops near Marina Drive.
“We’re Not Saying It’s Tater… But It’s Tater.”
Multiple deputies, speaking off the record, told WFAFO that the fire’s point of origin is “consistent with homemade still failures.”
One firefighter on scene stated:
“This is exactly what happens when someone mixes moonshine with desert engineering.”
While officials have not formally named Tater Biscuit as a suspect, WFAFO has confirmed that deputies immediately attempted to locate him following the explosion.
He was found nearby — in full camouflage, holding binoculars, and drinking from a metal thermos that “smelled like regret.”
Tater Questioned — Again — and Released — Again
Upon questioning, Tater reportedly denied any involvement and blamed the explosion on:
“Communists!"
When pressed about the possible link to his previously confiscated moonshine setup, he added:
“Well y’all took the main still, so if something exploded, it ain’t mine…unless it IS mine, in which it ain’t supposed to do that.”
Deputies released him shortly afterward due to lack of evidence, lack of witnesses, and lack of desire to fill out more paperwork involving Tater Biscuit.
Thanksgiving Complications
With Thanksgiving days away, city officials are concerned the blast may be tied to illegal holiday liquor production, a longstanding Sandy Shores tradition often involving Tater’s “special recipes.”
One official warned:
“Every Thanksgiving we deal with fires, stolen turkeys, and questionable alcohol. But this year is starting early — and louder.”
Fire Under Control but Investigation Continues
As of this moment:
✔ Fire contained
✔ No injuries reported
✔ Investigation ongoing
✔ Tater remains “a person of interest but not a threat”
Deputies are canvassing the area for fragments of still equipment, jars, barrels, and “anything that looks like it exploded on purpose.”
THE FINAL WORD
A pre-Thanksgiving explosion, Tater Biscuit running around in full camo, a possible moonshine connection, and another night of chaos in Sandy Shores.
Is this holiday season already spiraling out of control? Is Tater involved or just conveniently nearby every single time disaster happens?
As always in Blaine County, the truth is probably somewhere in between.
WFAFO Channel 13 will bring updates as this story develops.
